NEWCASTLE, DE (February 16, 2010) – AudioScience, Inc., a leader of professional peripherals for the broadcast and installed sound and entertainment industries, has released a new module for its ASI2416 modular CobraNet interface, the ASI1462. Spurred into development by a customer request, the ASI1462 is a microphone/line input module that expands the ASI2416's market.
The ASI1462 contains eight microphone pre-amplifiers. Its -60 to +24dBu input range covers both microphone and line levels allowing for a wide variety of uses. 48V phantom power is selectable on any or all of the preamps. Utilizing the latest in digitally controlled microphone amplifiers from Texas Instruments, the ASI1462 achieves an Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) specification of -120dBu and THD+N of 0.001%. ™ connector, or the ASI1493; a Terminal Block connector. The variety of connectors allows the ASI1462 to adapt to a multitude of interconnection schemes with minimal custom wiring.
The signal processing abilities of the ASI2416 are bought into play by giving each preamp channel a dedicated compressor/limiter and a 3-band parametric equalizer.
"We've seen our ASI2416 units used in a variety of installations," said Richard Gross, president of AudioScience. "A particular customer needed a mic module for use with the ASI2416, and so the ASI1462 was created. That customer is currently in the implementation phase of the project, and we can't name names at this point, but we're happy to be able to give our customers the tools they need to do their jobs."
Along with the ASI1462 module, AudioScience has added the ASI1494 1/4inch TRS jack connector module, providing even more options on how to connect to the mic preamp on the ASI2416.
