Blackwire Designs Highlights Insights from CE Pro Discussion on Hottest Home Tech Categories

July 5, 2024 - In a recent discussion with CE Pro, several key players in the custom integration space, including our very own Cody Crossland, shared their perspectives on the hottest home tech categories. The conversation underscored the growing importance of high-performance home networking, lighting solutions, and the challenges and opportunities within the market.

Key Highlights from Cody Crossland, VP of Sales and Marketing at Blackwire Designs

Networking and Advanced Technology Needs

Cody emphasized the evolving networking requirements essential for advanced technology installations. He noted, “The evolving networking requirements for advanced technology have shown how a correctly designed and implemented network is critical for any project.” This insight reflects the critical role that robust, high-speed networks play in ensuring the seamless operation of modern home tech systems.

Future Trends: Wi-Fi 7 and 10 Gigabit Networks

Looking ahead, Cody highlighted the significant impact of emerging technologies like Wi-Fi 7 on the market. “With Wi-Fi 7 starting to show up, 10 gigabit networks are going to be required, and the increase in high bandwidth networking products will continue to grow,” he explained. He also praised Ruckus and NETGEAR for producing some of the best networking products, ensuring our dealers are set up for success with minimal service calls.

Addressing Stock and Demand Challenges

Cody also addressed some of the challenges Blackwire faces, particularly in terms of stock and demand forecasting. “We still see issues with stock, but we think it has come down to not correctly estimating the demand for certain products,” he noted. To mitigate this, Blackwire has expanded warehouse space, upgraded racking systems, and updated our ERP system to better track and estimate product demand. These steps are part of our commitment to ensuring that we can meet the needs of our customers effectively.
