The WM8711L is a low power stereo digital/analog converter (DAC) with integrated headphone driver for systems using hi-fi stereo playback. Stereo audio outputs are buffered for driving headphones from a programmable volume control, and line level outputs are provided along with anti-thump mute and power up/down circuitry. Stereo 24-bit multi-bit Delta Sigma DACs are used with oversampling digital interpolation filters. Audio data input ranges from 16 to 32-bits and sampling rates from 8 kHz to 96 kHz. A USB clocking mode is provided where all audio rates can be derived from a single 12 MHz or 24 MHz MCLK, saving on the need for a PLL or multiple crystals. The device is controlled via a 2 or 3 wire serial interface and provides access to features including volume controls, mutes, de-emphasis and extensive power management facilities.
