DVEO’s new streaming media bridge, the IP Caster II BD™, is a low cost appliance for anyone wishing to deliver their compressed SD or HD content over fiber or copper IP networks.
It simultaneously sends and receives MPEG-2 or H.264 transport streams over IP. It is useful in many applications, such as delivery of compressed
HD streams between TV stations and cable head ends. It can simultaneously convert MPEG-2 or H.264 transport streams from DVB-ASI to IP in real time, and receive MPEG-2 transport streams over Ethernet-based Internet Protocol (IP) networks and convert them to DVB-ASI. Typically deployed in pairs, this device acts as both a Tx unit with ASI in and IP out and as an Rx unit with IP in and ASI out.Interestingly one can use it to send IP over ASI backbones. It is also fully bidirectional and when configured for IP connection it will shuttle ASI in both directions at the same time. The IP Caster II BD is a cost-effective alternative to dedicated satellite links, as it connects digital video equipment to computer networks. The system can be remotely managed via its Web-based interface. This makes it ideal for larger systems with central management.
