The DVBS2 universal encoding and modulating chassis by Thor is a flexible platform for converting live video signals to LBand RF signals suitable for transport over satellite links. This platform is managed through a web browser with all functions also available on the front panel. The chassis has a slot that can accept one of six available encoder cards to support any type of live video. In addition to the live encoded video input, the unit also supports multiplexing of additional programs via an ASI input. Programs from ASI input can be remapped with new PID values. A 10MHz clock reference is also provided to synchronize external equipment. These systems are suitable for both SNG contribution transport and for large scale affiliate broadcasting systems. They are robust enough for mounting in a mobile truck, and reliable enough for long term use in satellite head-ends.
