We have been systematically upgrading the production facilities at the University of Pittsburgh for the past four years.  After a major redesign in 2015, work continued to provide the upgrades and support that the transition from In-house game presentation to live web streamed coverage demanded. This included a new bi-directional fiber interface system that connects multiple sport venues back to the primary control room across campus. It allows for full camera transmit and control, intercom, audio, data, and HD return video to travel between sites on 2 strands of fiber, meeting the need for high density signal transport on an extremely limited number of fiber paths. Coupled with new Ikegami SMPTE camera chains and a full shading station, crew located in the control room can direct, cut, and transmit an event being held in a completely different venue staffed only with a small crew of Camera operators and talent. Texolve provided multiple installation solutions, mixing permanent equipment and mobile flight case builds that allow for a streamlined setup while reducing the need to purchase multiples of the major and highest cost equipment.

The second phase of the project was an upgrade to the existing ClearCom intercom system.  We added an Eclipse Median frame along with a mobile FreeSpeak II system and significantly extended the range and performance of their intercom in multiple venues, and allowed for telephone, 2 wire, and audio interfacing for maximum flexibility and organized communications between venues while supporting multiple events. With the roll out of a full matrix system, multiple crews can now work in a very compact space without interfering with each other’s program.

"Texolve has been a great partner to the University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department. The relationship has especially grown over the last five years as we have started broadcasting on the ACC Network, and Texolve has provided engineering support at over 65 events per year. In addition to helping us advance our technology, the consultants and engineers at Texolve have helped us to improve our workflow."
