Enterprise Technology Standardization & User Adoption
Understanding the challenges associated with traditional AV solutions on an enterprise or global scale is vital to the success of the modern-day audiovisual system.
There is no substitute for experience when designing and deploying large scale enterprise systems. IAS Technology worked with our partners and Lippert Components to offer a cost-conscious IT friendly system of systems that can be deployed on a national scale. These user friendly and easily repeatable standardized non-proprietary rooms have become the gold standard moving forward within the Lippert Components enterprise.
Variables had to be eliminated as part of the system and process design and IAS took steps to do just that including:
• Eliminate the need for proprietary cabling and termination
• Streamline systems design, use less hardware
• Make operation of the systems automatic for end users
• Enable remote reboot and monitoring of all devices
• Minimize the installation process to the equivalent of “plug n play.”
• Build equipment “pallets” that are prefabricated, pre-programmed, pre-staged/tested for a consistent product and standard of quality
Solutions that eliminate variables, mitigate risk and increase room up-time was goal number one. In addition, all solutions must simplify the process of user adoption realizing that is not about a simplified user interface but instead focuses on exceptional user experience. The user experience as a whole is vital to success and was very important to the executive team at Lippert Components. It was important to the executives to increase meeting productivity by reducing start up time to get the technology working and create an environment where the technology is a tool not a hindrance. This simple task can save time, money and increase use of the technology resulting in better meetings.
Designed for the User Experience
From the very beginning of the design stage, Lippert Components understood the importance of the user experience for both ease of use and system adoption.
IAS Technology recognizes that the user experience (UX) is the most important part of any solution. How often are people afraid of the technology they have at their disposal? The executives at Lippert Components wanted to avoid this.
The audiovisual systems here were designed be a tool for business which everyone uses. Minimization of the amount of time needed to set up the audiovisual systems was very important. Providing systems that just work is what IAS was tasked to achieve. Everyone understood that the user experience is about more than the technology itself.
Building Trust & Collaborating As A Team
The importance of a strategic partnership and solid project management process between the client and integrator.
Based on our experience and our knowledge of current technology trends, IAS Technology designed standardized room solutions in conjunction with the needs of Lippert Components.
These room designs along with our deployment philosophy allow for central standardization managed by IAS and Lippert Components. This allows anyone to deploy the solutions in the field including our team at IAS or Lippert Components skilled facilities personnel. From the beginning all parties have embraced the idea of testing the designs and solutions using the initial rooms as a proof of concept, allowing the adding or subtracting of features, and giving all parties a vested interest in the standardization designs and deployment.
These solutions can be altered as we work together on future designs that meet ever-changing needs. This will also allow for future growth and upgrades based on how technology progresses all while maintaining a standard operational user experience and standard for control and management.
The relationship between IAS and Lippert Components allowed for everyone to work together with a solid project management process. All parties knew that the key was to understanding infrastructure, changing needs, budget, and the impact of AV related expenses on the building.
The Importance Of Industry Standards
High quality AV systems with consistent, measurable performance is what all companies should strive to achieve. Organizations like AVIXA (Audiovisual Integrated Experience Association) and AQAV (Association for Quality in Audiovisual Technology) strive to bring AV systems to a new level. AVIXA ANSI accredited standards set the bar for a variety of applications including Audio Coverage Uniformity, Audiovisual Systems Engergy Management, Cable Labeling, Practices for Secutiry in Networked AV Systems, and Display Image Size Content in Audioviusal Systems. IAS utilizes these standards throughout the design and installation process.
AQAV through the AV9000 process implement by IAS at Lippert Components helps ensure quality through system commissioning. This system for quality management assures the project was delivered complete, on time, with “zero defects”, and as expected. A battery of tests was performed at various milestones throughout the project was vital. The results of these tests can be used as a vehicle of information to those who applied the labor in the production of the milestone, so that continual improvement may take place.
Managed Services for Audiovisual Technology
The Importance Of Ongoing Service & Support
Service is more than being reactive to issues that arise. True support and managed services are about taking a proactive approach while providing valuable data about the audiovisual technology systems.
IAS Technology offers a wide variety of support and maintenance administrations to its clients, from outsourcing programs that provide committed in office support staff, to remote IT programs that support an organization's help desk. IAS Technology gives Lippert Components the administration assets, swift trouble diagnosis and technical expertise that they can rely on.
The IAS Managed Services use a comprehensive mix of remote and on location assets. These assets provide maintenance and support benefits that augment the usage of professional audiovisual and video conferencing systems, while providing system control and analytics that are compatible with equipment from a myriad of manufacturers. These services increase up time and provide substantially faster resolutions to technical issues. Critical to issue prevention is proactive maintenance on all systems. A full report of each technology system is provided to the Lippert Components at the completion of all scheduled site visits.
EYE ON IT Current Industry Trends
It was important for Lippert Component executives to embrace modern technology. The ability for employees to present from their own devices (BYOD) no matter what platform of phone, tablet, or computer they use was vital. Wired, Wireless, Interactive Touch Displays, agnostic webbased conferencing, data analytics, and remote management were all key to a successful delivery
