Big Picture partnered V3 Tech as the technical solutions provider for the launch of Sony PS5, leveraging landmarks activation to create a unified global moment. V3 Tech wanted to bring the brand, PlayStation, to life by lighting and projecting animated videos on iconic landmarks, architecture, and landscapes. They also wanted to avoid the production of high-end detailed gobos.
This was where Barco UDX-4K32 projectors played a critical role, projecting superior quality images on Southern Hemisphere’s tallest building, the Sky Tower in Auckland.
Magnificent projection
The event installation for the PS5 launch used four Barco UDX-4K32 mounted portrait to cover an area 12m wide x 80m tall. The projection was done from a distance of around 120m and driven by concealed 4x4 racks.
Barco’s UDX-4K32 large venue projector delivered a breathtaking experience to the viewers with its high-brightness display on one of the most iconic landmarks. The projectors featured 4K UHD resolution, which ensured that the images displayed were flawless with accurate colors, at all times. Auckland's Sky Tower blazed blue and had PlayStation's symbols projected onto it, making the launch a dazzling event.
