Matrox DSX Core-based, software-defined playout solution from Vowos enables WFDiF studio to offer streaming and VOD services during COVID-19
Montreal, Canada — December 9, 2020 — Matrox® Video is pleased to announce that Vowos has chosen Matrox DSX Core software modules to develop a virtualized playout solution for Poland’s renowned Documentary and Feature Film Studio (WFDiF). Requiring a new streaming and video-on-demand (VOD) platform to meet the increasing demand for WFDiF content during COVID-19, Vowos integrated DSX Core to create a software-defined platform for instant channel deployment. In combination with the Vowos XMV software and distributed fileserver for content delivery, WFDiF audiences can now access a rich library of feature and educational films, documentaries, animations, and more.
Serving as the key building block within the Vowos playout server, the Matrox DSX Core File Reader software module offers instantaneous playlist capabilities to readily deliver WFDiF’s archived and media files within a hosted cloud environment. Online visitors can now access WFDiF’s most significant works, dating as far back as the 1940’s and ranging to contemporary Polish cinematography, via a live stream or through a library of VOD titles. An assortment of educational materials is also available on the WFDiF online platform, including workshops, lectures, and guided on-set tours.
"COVID-19 has contributed tremendously to increased online activity in terms of streaming and video-on-demand services," said Lukasz Janas, co-founder of Vowos. "As a result of Vowos’ playout and distribution solution based on Matrox’s DSX Core media platform, WFDiF’s audiences are granted unprecedented access to unique, original, and high-quality content. WFDiF.online has been a truly positive and enriching experience for all parties involved."
"The Matrox-Vowos software-centric architecture provides WFDiF with an efficient, affordable, quick-to-develop approach to IP channel deployments," said Francesco Scartozzi, VP of sales and business development, broadcast and media group at Matrox Video. "Virtualized workflows help content providers such as WFDiF migrate seamlessly to streaming and VOD environments—on platforms that are easily adaptable and scalable to meet evolving IP needs."
