Vanco Announces Digital Audio Extender with eARC

New audio extender offers customizable audio extension for immersive formats.

Batavia, IL – August 14, 2024 – Vanco International LLC, an industry leader in AV distribution and electronic accessory products, today announces the PulseAudio PAEXEARC Digital Audio Extender with eARC. This versatile device transmits eARC, ARC, or S/PDIF digital audio signals, offering integrators options for any scenario.

The PAEXARC transmits HDMI eARC or ARC digital audio signals up to 328 feet (100m) over a single Cat 5e/6 cable. S/PDIF signals can be extended even further, up to 626 feet (200 meters). Both the eARC/ARC and S/PDIF outputs are always live, allowing operators to switch between them at a moment’s notice. The eARC/ARC mode also supports CEC passthrough.

eARC supports high-definition, immersive audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, and Dolby Atmos, including uncompressed 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound and object-based audio. S/PDIF supports compressed surround sound formats, including Dolby Digital and DTS. By offering support for both eARC/ARC and S/PDIF, the PAEXEARC ensures integrators always have a pathway to deliver multi-channel audio.

The PAEXEARC consists of two units, a transmitter and a receiver. The units are powered by bi-directional PoC (Power over Cable), so only one unit needs to be connected to external power. Each unit has one S/PDIF and one HDMI I/O port; operators can instantly toggle between eARC/ARC and S/PDIF output via a hardware switch on the transmitter unit.

“eARC is a convenient and highly capable transmission technology – which is why it’s so frustrating when it fails, due to distance limitations, inconsistent implementation, or lack of support across the entirety of the signal chain,” say Brandon White, Director of New Product Development for Vanco. “The new PulseAudio Digital Audio Extender is the perfect solution. It extends the range of eARC and ARC signals, preserving CEC passthrough – and it also has a built-in back-up plan.”

The PAEXEARC begins shipping in early September 2024. Like all Vanco products, this extender is 100% QC-tested in Vanco’s North American headquarters and backed by Vanco’s award-winning customer service and warranty programs. See PAEXEARC live at CEDIA Expo in Booth 1523.
